The Chinese & Japanese Know Best! By Hoda Nassef
I have the bad habit of drinking ice-cold water, especially either while eating a heavy meal, or immediately afterwards. But, the Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals, not cold water. I wondered why, and if there was a scientific reason for their drinking habits. So, after some research, I discovered some astonishing facts:
* The intake of cold water while eating will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. This, in return, will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food, which will line the intestine.
* Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. Needless to say, if you need a drink while you eat, it is best to drink hot soup or warm water with or after a meal. There is nothing to lose, everything to gain...by trying to adapt to Far-Eastern drinking habits! H.N.
